Inspection and Testing

Generally

In order to comply with BS7671:1992 the IEE requirements for electrical installation, all new work must be inspected and tested before being put into service. Also, more insurance companies and local authorities are making it a requirement for companies to have their premises inspected and tested.

Portable appliance testing is also extremely important, to ensure the safety of
equipment for use by employees and the general public.

Another test required by local authorities, is the test to comply with the Petroleum (Regulation) Acts 1926 & 1936. This test ensures the safety of installations where petrol and its derivatives are used.

Fixed Installation Testing

Vic Coupland Ltd, being members of the NICEIC (www.niceic.org.uk) and the ECA (www.eca.co.uk), test all of our new work in accordance with BS7671:1992 and IEE guidance Note 3. We also carry out Periodic Inspection and testing for clients, giving advice and quotations when defects are found in an installation. All of our testing is processed using Amtech® (www.amtech-sys.co.uk) FastTest software. Full certificates / reports are then produced showing all results and defects.

Portable Appliance Testing

We offer a comprehensive Portable Appliance testing service. All test results and appliances are logged and transferred to a personal computer. A full audit trail is then produced showing all test results, any failed items and any missing items from previous tests. This helps companies not only guarantee the safety of their equipment, but also helps to keep a track of their assets.

Petroleum Licence Testing

We offer an annual Testing service for companies with Petroleum storage / dispensing facilities.
We have intrinsically safe equipment to carry out the tests and offer advice on
improvements if necessary .

Below is an example of the testing equipment that we use and a few test certificates.
