Victor Coupland
1901 -1986

As Vic Coupland Limited celebrates 70 years of trading, remembrance is paid to it´s founder, Victor Coupland.

During the industrial depression of 1926, Victor Coupland became unemployed after serving his apprenticeship as an electrical engineer at
Earls Ship Yard in the East Yorkshire town of Hessle.

In the early years with the introduction of radio and the development of domestic installations and appliances, Victor Couplands new company traded profitably and expanded into electrical contracting for commercial, industrial and marine industries, becoming a registered Limited Company in 1937.

With the advent of the Second World War, expertise and facilities were wholly available to the Royal and Merchant navies, leading to almost impossible completion dates, demanding working conditions and severe shortages.

After the war, the company resumed its path and soon expanded to new premises, presently those of Vic Coupland Limited, where the manufacture of control equipment could be carried out.

Industry extended and required increases in productivity which lead to the introduction of control engineering using relay logic. This pioneering enhancement gathered momentum and soon exploded into the programmable and microprocessor systems to enhance power and increase capabilities.

In 1986 Victor Coupland died, leaving a legacy of unrivalled quality and service from which generation upon generation can benefit.

Today, Vic Coupland Limited has its sights firmly set on the next 70 years, into an age of national and international installation, communication and control of everything electrical.

The future awaits but it must be controlled...
